MAROLIN, Richard Mahr GmbH. Richard Mahr founded Marolin in 1900 in Steinach, Germany, and developed a successful business of composition models, mainly with holiday models , but also toys.
During the time of DDR, Marolin gradually lost their independance, and the production was changed to the more ”modern” plastic . In 1963 the company took over the production from Lineol in Brandenburg. In 1967 new moulds were made, better suited for Plastic. These new models were smaller than the originals, and many were produced till 2010. In 1972, the state took over completely, and enruled Marolin in the cooperative for toy manufacturers, VEB Plaho .
In 1990 Marolin regained their independance, and the production of nativity sets etc was resumed in composition material as well as plastic . In present time most of the production is holiday themed models.
