phylum Chordata Hyaenodon ("hyena-toothed") is the type genus of extinct carnivorous creodonts endemic to Eurasia, North America and Africa, with species existing from the Eocene until the middle Miocene, for approximately 26.1 million years.

They had a very massive skull but only a small brain. Despite the name, these creatures are not related to hyenas.
