Tootsie Toy is the oldest toy maker in the USA. It was founded in Chicago by the Dowst Brothers in 1904 and in 1911 they started making cast metal vehicles and other small toys. At one time they produced the metal prizes for Cracker Jacks. Tootsie Toy was purchased by Processed Plastics and after a merger with Strombecker the company continued as Tootsie Toy. The combined company was sold in 2005 and are now owned by J. Lloyd International Inc.
