phylum Chordata Kakuru is an extinct genus of theropod dinosaur known from a few isolated bones of the hindlimb. The slight build and general anatomy of the bones suggest that Kakuru was a fast-moving member of the coelurosauria, though abelisaur affinities have also been suggested. The remains are formed in opal, an unusual method of fossilization, though it occurs more frequently in Early Cretaceous Australian fossils than elsewhere.
