The Lahl company, popularly known as "Männel-Lahl", was one of the most important manufacturers of mass figures in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge). Over the decades it produced a wide range of nativity figures, mountain elevators, dwarfs and hunts. Friedrich Hermann Lahl started making mass figurines in Annaberg-Buchholz as early as 1864. Much of the historical mass figures that still exist and cannot be assigned is often attributed to the Lahl company, although there were around 15 different manufacturers of mass figures in the heyday of the mass figures in the Ore Mountains. However, in the middle to the end of the 19th century it was not customary to provide such goods with a company logo, which often makes it very difficult to assign the figures to the manufacturer.
