Proterosuchidae is an extinct family of basal archosauriformes that lived from the Late Permian to the Early Triassic. They were similar in appearance to crocodiles but lacked their armor scutes. Proterosuchids had a hooked upper jaw (premaxilla) and were terrestrial and semi-aquatic carnivores.
