phylum Chordata Quinkana is an extinct genus of terrestrial crocodile that lived in Australia from the Oligocene until the late Pleistocene. There were several species, which ranged in length from 3 to 6 meters. They were among the top terrestrial predators of Australia. The name derives from "Quinkans," a being from Australian Aboriginal mythology frequently represented in rock art.
